Eligibility
- refer to Membership Services for details on how to join
  • Current OSU students are eligible with a valid student ID
  • Faculty and staff, employed .75 FTE may purchase a membership.
  • Others OSU sponsored programs eligible to by a membership include: USDA, retired faculty/staff, ELI, campus ministries and spouses of all eligible categories.
  • Dependent children 16 years and older may purchase a membership during the summer semester. During the fall and spring semesters they are eligible to enter as a guest of a member.
  • Dependent children younger than 16 years are eligible to visit on Saturday and Sunday during family time.
  • Guests of any qualified member must purchase a daily pass.

Entry into the Colvin Recreation Center
  • A validated ID card must be presented at the main entrance to enter the Colvin Recreation Center. Although such a policy may appear to be an inconvenience, it actually serves the purpose of protecting your interests and rights as an authorized user.
  • ID CARDS ARE NOT TRANSFERABLE. The card will be confiscated and the card owner and the person using the card will be required to leave the facilities. The card owner must meet with the staff to redeem the card and regain admission.
  • Students, faculty, staff, and cardholders of the Recreation Center who forget their cards will not be admitted to the facility.

Behavior and Personal Safety
  • Patrons are expected to display acceptable social behavior while recreating in any of the Campus Recreation facilities.
  • Abuse of staff in any form is not tolerated and will result in expulsion and exclusion for a period of time deemed appropriate by management.
  • Not all rules are posted. If staff ask your cooperation, please adjust your behavior and make a recommendation to management at a later date for changes you feel might be necessary. Uncooperative patrons will be asked to leave the facilities and excluded from its use until deemed appropriate by Campus Recreation.
  • The Department of Campus Recreation reserves the right to take whatever action necessary to preserve the safety and integrity of facilities and programs.
  • Fighting is not tolerated and will result in immediate expulsion from the facilities. Lack of cooperation will result in the OSU Police being involved.
  • Dunking is a safety and maintenance concern. Do not dunk, grasp or touch the rim or net. Violating this policy will be an automatic expulsion for no less than one week.
  • Please help maintain a secure environment by watching your valuables carefully, and notifying staff if you see something out of the ordinary.
  • When using the center please consider your own health history, seek counsel from your health provider, and use common sense. In case of an accident or illness, notify a CRC employee immediately. Your assistance promoting safety is greatly appreciated.
  • Participation is at your own personal risk. Please be Safe and be a Sport.

Alcohol/Smoking/Tobacco/Food Use
  • Food is not allowed outside of the provided vending area
  • No glass or metal containers are allowed.
  • Water, in plastic containers with re-sealable caps is allowed.
  • Rule of Thumb: If it tips over there can't be a possibility of it spilling
  • Alcoholic beverages are not allowed on the premises.
  • Consumption, or suspicious involvement with alcohol, will be reason for expulsion and possible exclusion from further Campus Recreation services
  • Oklahoma State University is designated as a tobacco-free campus. Smoking and the use of all tobacco products are prohibited.
  • Gum should be thrown away before entering the building.

Clothing & Footwear
  • For safety reasons, jewelry should not be worn during any activity
  • Appropriate athletic attire, such as T-shirts, shorts, warm-up suits, sweat suits, or aerobic clothing, is required at all times during recreation
  • Appropriate athletic footwear is required for all athletic areas. Open toed shoes are not allowed in any activity area
  • Shower shoes are suggested for use in locker rooms and showers
  • Fullback shirts and protective footwear are required in weights/fitness area. Bare skin contact with weight benches or chairs is not permitted
  • All clothing must meet public decency standards

Music
  • Limit your personal music to headphones. Portable boom boxes are not permitted in common work out areas. They may be appropriate in the dance studios for your practices

Advertising and Publicity
  • Flyers or posters are rarely posted. On occasion flyers may be given permission to be distributed at the Customer Service desk
  • No flyers/posters are permitted on the exterior of the building
  • Off campus advertising is not permitted without management's approval.
  • Tape is not allowed on painted surfaces or gym floors

Bicycles, Skateboards, and In-line Skates
  • Bicycles, Skateboards, and In-line Skates are not allowed in the CRC
  • Bicycle racks are located outside. Do not park them anywhere else or they will be confiscated by OSU police or cut loose by Campus Recreation and placed in the bike rack
  • Bicycles left for more than a couple of days in the racks will be referred to OSU police for removal

Lost and Found
  • Campus Recreation is not responsible for lost or stolen articles
  • Participants are encouraged to store all personal belongings securely in lockers
  • Staff members are not allowed to hold valuables or bags for participants
  • Found items should be turned in at the Customer Service desk
  • Any items found which appear to be of significant monetary value will be stored safely. Those items can be claimed the following day at the Customer Service Desk. Valuables will be stored for two weeks and then given to OSU police for disposal
  • Coats and other items of clothing will also be stored for two weeks and then given to OSU police for disposal
  • ID cards are kept in the business office for one semester. All unclaimed ID's will be sent to the ID services on the 4th floor of the Student Union at the end of each semester

           School of Applied Health and Behavioral Studies
           Clubs belonging to the Sport Club Council
  • Rental Fees may apply to a student group if either of the following is true:

  •        Your event is charging any registration fees
           Non-OSU participants are allowed to participate - even spectators
           Your function is for an academic or OSU sponsored event
  • Lead time is required for events requiring set-up, equipment, supervision or custodial services. Less than two weeks notice will be rejected
  • All reservations requests are in writing and must fill out a Facility Request Form. No phone reservations will be made
  • Gyms in the Colvin Recreation Center are not reserved for student events or team practice during the fall or spring semester. The annex is available for such activities. There will be fees involved to supervise additional facilities, if reserved
  • Gym priorities are for their intended purpose. Football, Frisbee, baton twirling, etc., are not space appropriate activities
  • Some events hosted by Intramurals are not played outside of their scheduled game time (i.e. Dodge Ball and Floor Hockey). Practice time for such activities is not permitted

Electronic Monitoring
  • For your safety and security, electronic monitors are located in the Colvin Recreation Center

Cardio Equipment
  • Proper usage as determined and designed by the manufacturer is required

  •        *Do not grab electronic consoles – use the handle bars
           *Do not steeply incline the treadmills, grasp the handle and lean back on your routine. This is inappropriate and tears up the equipment
  • Please wipe down equipment after use
  • No personal items are allowed in this area. Please use the free day-lockers provided for your convenience
  • Keep hands and feet clear of moving parts while machine is in use. Place hands and feet only on the hand grips and foot pads provided
  • Please use machines and equipment only for their intended purpose
  • There is a 45-minute time limit on all cardiovascular equipment. During peak times of usage be courteous and do not stay longer. If no one is waiting, you may reset your equipment.

Weight Equipment
  • Use appropriate stacks of weights and settings on the cardio equipment to match your ability
  • Do not drop weights
  • Stack weights properly after use. Refusing to do so, if asked by a staff, will result in expulsion from the facilities for no less than one week
  • Proper athletic clothing, shirts, and athletic shoes must be worn at all times. NO JEANS
  • Do not operate equipment if it has loose or damaged parts
  • If machine fails to operate correctly, do not attempt to repair. Notify the manager at the customer service desk of the problem.
  • Participants exercise at their own risk, and they are responsible for their own health and safety
  • All free weight users must have at least one spotter. Staff members are not required to spot.
  • Use of collars is mandatory on all free weights bars
  • Do not stand or place feet on benches
  • No equipment is to be moved from its designated area

Gym Usage
  • NO DUNKING. This is defined as no touching, grasping or holding on to any part of the net or rim
  • Dunking is cause for immediate ejection from the facilities for a period of no less than one week
  • No tape on gym floors or walls
  • Do not move any equipment already set up on the courts. Ask the manager on duty for information regarding the daily activities
  • Gyms are intended for basketball, volleyball and badminton. Other activities must be approved by the manager on duty
  • No personal items are allowed on the playing floor. Place items in the day lockers provided for your convenience
  • Wear proper athletic shoes. No street shoes or black marking soles allowed.

Pets
  • No pets are permitted in the Colvin Recreation Center or Outdoor Pool unless the animal is a registered service dog or trained seeing-eye dog
  • The owner should be prepared to properly display the animal's credentials

Cell Phone
  • Due to privacy concerns, cell phone use is NOT permitted in the locker rooms or bathrooms
  • Cell phone use is not permitted while using any equipment. Take your call to a safe place. Any misuse of cell phones in any area of the facility will result in expulsion from the facility and loss of membership

Photography/Videography
  • The intent of this policy is to maintain respect for the rights and privacy of our members and guests by preventing pictures without their consent
  • The following must be completed in order to film or take pictures in the University Recreation Center:

  •        *Individuals wishing to take pictures or use a video tape recorder in the Colvin Recreation Center must have approval from Campus Recreation
           *Visit the Business Office or Customer Service desk and ask for a Media Pass
           *Permission will be granted for video/audio taping of the general facility only
           *Members and/or guests involved in individual workouts such as weight lifting, aerobic dance, swimming, cardiovascular exercise and/or climbing cannot be photographed except as they appear in the background of a facility area. No close up pictures allowed.
           *No member may be singled out for videotape purposes without their consent
           *Complaints from members regarding any aspect related to the production of videotape in the Colvin Recreation Center will result in termination of the videotape process and forfeiture of the actual film
           *The Department of Campus Recreation reserves the right to have the recordings made in our facilities removed from all viewing formats if a representative of Campus Recreation determines that the standards of this agreement have not been met.
