Operations

   Operations Staff    No longer accepting applications for Spring 2010
        Operation staff work at several different positions: Customer Service Desk, Equipment Room,
      Fitness Attendant, Weight Room Attendant, and Business Office. Each position requires
      excellent customer service and a dedication to making the experience of the Colvin Center a
      positive one for every member and guest. Ops staff students are the face of Campus
      Recreation.   

 
   Assistant Center Manager - (must be currently employed by Campus Recreation to apply)
      The stepping point from Ops Staff to Center Manager. Required to carry shifts in the Business
      Office, ACM's are selected from Ops Staff employees who apply and demonstrate excellent
      customer service, a sincere dedication to Campus Recreation, and positive leadership potential.

 
   Center Manager - (must be currently employed by Campus Recreation to apply)
      Center Managers represent the best student employees Campus Recreation has to offer.
      Responsible for the daily operation of the Colvin Recreation Center, and direct supervision of over
      40 student employees, the CM's ensure the daily operation of the facility and smooth interaction
      with our members and guests.

 
 
Grounds Maintenance

   Grounds Staff
        Responsible for mowing and edging/trimming all playing fields. Spot spraying with chemicals
      for weed control is done but no license is required. Field maintenance includes automatic
      sprinkler systems, tools and small machines. Basic knowledge of tractor operation is preferred.
      Must be able to lift 50 lbs and hook up a 3 pt PTO tractor implement.   Download Application

 
 
Aquatics

   Lifeguard
        Lifeguards work at both the Outdoor Leisure pool (typically opened from Spring Break to Fall
      Break) and the Indoor Pool (opened year round). Must be certified lifeguard - most through
      American Red Cross. Turn in application to 101 CRC

 
   Pool Manager
        Lifeguards who demonstrate a strong commitment to the Aquatics program and strong leadership
      skills are asked to take on additional responsibilities as Pool Managers. Through weekly
      meetings the Pool Management staff assist the Aquatics Coordinator with evaluating the lifeguard
      staff and establishing pool policies and procedures.

 
   Pool Operator
        Pool Operators assist the Aquatics Coordinator with the day-to-day operation of both swimming
      pools. Mechanically inclined, the Operators work through the grime and rust to keep out facilities
      polished and shining.

 
   Swim Instructor
        Swim Instructors are on the front lines of helping members enjoy the Colvin Center. With 1-on-1
      instruction, the swing instructors are capable of teaching clients the four competition strokes, or
      convincing them to step into the water for the first time. Water Safety Instructor certifications are
      preferred.

 
 
Intramurals

   Office Staff
        Students with good people and computer skills that take entries for all intramural sports and
      answer any questions of participants. Must be well organized and able to multi-task. Knowledge
      of sports is not a requirement.

 
   Equipment Room Staff
        Students with good organization skills and the ability to multitask are required for this position.
      The student will check out and in jerseys for basketball players and uniforms for officials. Flexible
      hours.

 
   Scorekeepers
        Students who wish to get involved in the intramural program but do not have a knowledge of sports
      can be basketball scorekeepers. Training is provided before the season & is paid. Flexible hours
      in four (4) hour shifts.

 
   Officials
        Individuals with an extensive playing background are encouraged to become an intramural official,
      but previous officiating experience is not required. Mandatory training clinics prior to each team
      sport covers rules, mechanics and procedures. You may officiate and continue to play intramural
      sports. Opportunities available include officiating Basketball, Flag Football, Soccer, Softball, Floor
      Hockey, 2-ball Indoor Soccer, Team Handball and Volleyball.

 
   Supervisors
        Students who possess excellent interpersonal skills, familiarity with organized sports,
      demonstrate leadership experiences and a strong commitment to student services. With at least
      one (1) year of experience with our program as an official, anyone can apply for our supervisor
      positions.
